Traditional 5-Step Lawn Care Program
Green Velvet is pleased to offer this easy to follow 5-step lawn care program. Our professional turf care products will allow you to establish a healthy, beautiful lawn. Follow our guide to ensure that your lawn is in excellent condition throughout the year.
STEP 1 - Spring Crabgrass Control with 13-0-0 w/ Barricade & 25% NSN***
- Prevents crabgrass all season as well as a feeding for quick Spring green up.
- For best results apply in March thru early April.
- 50 lb bag covers 11,000 sq ft
*** Can not be used on newly seeded lawns—must use 12-24-12 Siduron
STEP 2 - Spring Weed and Feed Control with 15-0-5 Viper w/ 25% XRT
- Controls actively growing weeds such as dandelions while feeding and strengthening the lawn.
- Must be applied to a wet leaf for optimum control.
- Apply in late April thru early June.
- 40 lb bag covers 10,000 sq ft.
STEP 3 - Summer Insect Protection with 15-0-4 w/ 20% Merit
- Protects against grubs and surface feeding insect and strengthens the lawn against heat and drought.
- Must be watered in after application to gain full effectiveness.
- Apply in mid-June thru early August.
- 50 lb bag covers 12,500 sq ft.
*** If grubs are not a problem we recommend using 24-0-8 w/ Iron & 50% NSN Fertilizer.
STEP 4 - Fall Fertilization with 32-0-4 w/ 50% MSN & 2% Fe
- A well balanced slow release Nitrogen fertilizer with Iron to keep the lawn green and growing thru the fall.
- Apply September thru October.
- 50 lb bag covers 16,000 sq ft.
STEP 5 - Winter Feeding with 33-0-3 Rapid Release
- The most important fertilization of the year!
- Apply November thru early December.
- 50 lb bag covers 16,000 sq ft.
AERATION
- ***Green Velvet recommends core aeration with STEP 5 to reduce soil compaction and promote a deeper rooted, healthier plant. Dormant seeding can be done in conjunction with fall aeration if needed.
